I think honesty, being good with kids(duh), and definely responsible are qualities that babysitters need!

Someone who is responsible and cares about my kids!

October 27th, 2008 at 3:53 pm

The children must come first.

A sitter that sends pictures to your phone while out is AWESOME! We always crack up at the fun they are having - and feel better knowing they are doing great!

The perfect babysitter is one that spends their time WITH my kids…playing with them, interacting with them. We had one babysitter that played prince and princess with the boys - they LOVED it and play it all the time now (make believe - of course, I have to be the princess, lol).

Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Trust…you have to have a lot of trust in your babysitter or you won’t enjoy yourself when you’re gone!

What makes a good babysitter is a good relationship! If you can’t talk or they can’t approach you with concerns, then it’s time to find someone else!

October 28th, 2008 at 12:31 am

Someone that gives their attention to the kids!

October 28th, 2008 at 1:19 am

Well, I know what makes the perfect babysitter because I have one. She is sweet, loves the kids, plays with them, does fun activities with then, understands that there is a bedtime, but can be a little flexible. She also realizes that she is still on the clock when the kids go to bed and straightens up any messes they may have left behind before bedtime. My perfect babysitter folds laundry and does a little extra cleaning, now I know that is way above and beyond especially when she is only 14, now 15. Jackpot! That is all I can say!

I think responsibility is the biggest factor. Some 13 year olds are more responsible than some 16 year olds that I know

October 28th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

A family member, but since that is not always possible. Someone who loves your child.

October 28th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

someone with the right mix of responsibility and fun. i never want to doubt that my kids are safe, yet i also want them to be engaged in fun while we’re gone.
thanks for the giveaway!!

I think what makes a perfect babysitter is one who seems to actually want to play with my kids. So many girls these days are just like whatever. It drives me nuts!

October 28th, 2008 at 5:55 pm

Someone who truly loves my children… only good friends and relatives take the cake!

October 28th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

To me a perfect babysitter is someone who loves my daughter.

October 28th, 2008 at 7:10 pm

I think a good babysitter is someone who loves and understands the children as individuals. A good babysitter also communicates with the parents — the good and the bad of the visit. No tv is ideal — playing with and doing special things together is the best!

October 28th, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Someone I can trust! I need to know that they are paying full attention to my child..and knowing CPR and 911 is a big help! LOL

October 28th, 2008 at 9:40 pm

A perfect babysitter is someone who will get down on the floor and play with my daughter, have fun and is not afraid to get paint on their clothes!

Thanks for the giveaway!

Trustworthy, honest, willing to get down and spend time with the kids. thanks for offering this.

October 29th, 2008 at 7:05 am

I think the best babysitter is one who shows up ready to play and interact. When they come with a list of phone numbers and books to read they are obviously not going to play with your kids.

October 29th, 2008 at 7:27 am

I think honesty, responsibility, and compassion are good qualities.

October 29th, 2008 at 8:08 am

A perfect babysitter is responsible and plays with your kids instead of talking on the phone. =)

Thanks for the giveaway!

October 29th, 2008 at 8:10 am

Experience and a love for kids!

October 29th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

has new ideas of things to do that the kids will love.

October 29th, 2008 at 1:02 pm

A genuine heart of gold, with a love for children
that is beyond the norm. Fun and responsible! The
big plus is that the children just adore her and
love to go to the sitters.

October 29th, 2008 at 3:58 pm

A good sitter feeds my son the right foods - the ones I approve!
Thanks!

I think the most important quality in a babysitter is being someone that the children enjoy spending time with. A babysitter should be someone that the kids enjoy being looked after by and not someone that they dread or won’t listen to.

October 29th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

For me, a good babysitter is anyone that can make my kid smile as I’m leaving the house. I have such anxiety over leaving him with a sitter and if he’s crying/screaming when we try to go, I often end up changing my mind and not going out or taking him with us.

October 29th, 2008 at 5:56 pm

Honesty and trustworthy are high on the list, but also someone who is good with kids and will actually play with them! Thanks so much for doing this giveaway for us!

Someone you feel comfortable with, you can trust, who obviously can handle and also feels comfortable with your children. Preferably someone who’s had child first aid training. Someone your child is sad to see leave! We’re so blessed to have a good babysitter - I just don’t want to think about her leaving for college soon!

October 29th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

My perfect babysitter is my cousin! How lucky am I that she is close enough for me to use on a weekly basis?!?

October 29th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Being honest, on time, and being extremely caring and all about following the rules and all about the safety of kids.

October 29th, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Responsible and fun. Free is always nice. :)

October 29th, 2008 at 9:09 pm

Someone I can trust and the kids have fun with. Thanks for the giveaway. semtaylor(at)yahoo.com

Tome, the best babysitter is one I trust, and my kid love!

October 30th, 2008 at 12:23 am

I think actually KNOWING your babysitter, instead of taking a reccomendation from a friend, is HUGE. And, of course, everything else that’s already been said!

October 30th, 2008 at 12:45 am

The best babysitter is someone who will care for my children and care for them as if they are their own!

October 30th, 2008 at 7:11 am

I think a perfect babysitter is someone who knows they aren’t perfect and will be anxious to ask questions of the parents to get more info about the kids!

October 30th, 2008 at 11:14 am

Awesome Giveaway. Thank you for the chance to win :)

October 30th, 2008 at 11:15 am

I think it is important they actually play with the kids. I hate when babysitters just “watch” the kids without engaging them at all.

October 30th, 2008 at 1:01 pm

We have yet to leave our daughter with anyone, but the time is coming - both for her sake and ours. I think responsibility, maturity (not just age!), fun and enjoyment of children is a must. I don’t want someone who will sit and watch tv, chat on the phone and not play with my daughter.

Thanks, Kiy

October 30th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

The perfect babysitter is one who likes to be with kids. Otherwise they’re just doing it for the money and you’ll have unhappy kids. :(

October 30th, 2008 at 5:51 pm

The perfect babysitter is one who genuinely likes kids and likes to play with them, and isn’t just there to make a quick buck. Thanks for the giveaway!

Most of our sitters are family (grandparents, etc.), so it scores double points that they get QT with their grandkids while sitting!
And it goes without saying — trust is #1, and with family, trust is in place.
